Harlan’s Brody Brock went airborne in an attempt to avoid a tag by Cumberland’s Kayden Adams in middle school baseball action

Casolari, Howard lead Redskins to victory at Harlan

Cumberland continued its hot start in middle school baseball action with an 8-3 win Tuesday at Harlan to improve to 5-0 on the season.
Zayden Casolari pitched a six-hitter with eight strikeouts to earn the win.
Brayden Howard led the Redskins’ offense with three singles. Casolari had two singles. Gavvin Lloyd, Hunter Fuson and Ethan Skrotch added one single each.
Beck Bryson led Harlan with three hits. Landon Myers had two hits. Caiden Jackson added one hit.
Zach Boggs, Cooper Thomas and Brody Brock all saw time on the mound for Harlan.

 

Burgan’s four-hitter sends Lady Dragons to win

Adelynn Burgan pitched a four-hitter with eight strikeouts and one walk as Harlan downed visiting Barbourville 7-4 in middle school softball action on Tuesday.
Gracie Hensley and Burgan each had two hits to lead the Harlan offense.
The 3-0 Lady Dragons play at Barbourville on Thursday.

Gilbert leads Bears to win at Bell County

Jesse Gilbert pitched a complete game with seven strikeouts and three walks as Harlan County rolled to a 16-3 win at Bell County in middle school baseball action. Grant Shelton led the Bears on offense with a double and a single. Andrew Vance had a double. Brayden Morris, Colby Shepherd, Jesse Gilbert and Ethan Stewart added singles.

Andrew Vance and Grant Shelton teamed on a two-hitter as Harlan County coasted past Barbourville 19-5 in middle school baseball action.
Vance struck out four in two hitless innings on the mound. Shelton allowed two hits in two innings.
Jesse Gilbert led the Bears on offense with a triple and single. Brayden Morris and Shelton had two singles each. Colby Shepherd, Bryson Kelly, Win Cooper and Logan Mills each had singles.
Harlan County fell 16-6 at Middlesboro in a game dominated by walks.
Gilbert led the Bears with a double. Morris, Kelly and Shepherd had singles. Gilbert, Ethan Stewart and Bryson Kelly shared mound duty.
Harlan County will travel to Bell County on Thursday.

 

Redskins sweep doubleheader against Williamsburg

Cumberland improved to 4-0 in middle school baseball action following a 10-9, 25-11 sweep of visiting Williamsburg on Saturday.
Hunter Fuson led the Redskins in the first game with a triple and double. Hayden Cornett singled twice. Kayden Adams, Kayden Casolari and Braxton Bowen added one single each.
Cornett struck out two in three innings on the mound. Casolari struck out five in three innings.
Gavvin Lloyd had four hits in the second game. Bowen and Cornett had three hits each. Brayden Howard and Kyllian Jackson added two hits each. Adams and Fuston had one hit each.
