Harlan’s Brody Owens connected on a pitch in Monday’s win over Bell County. The Green Dragons completed a sweep with a 9-5 victory Tuesday at Bell County.

The Harlan Green Dragons completed a two-game sweep of Bell County with a 9-5 victory Tuesday at Log Mountain.
Senior center fielder Jaedyn Gist led the 11-10 Dragons with a two-run triple. Jake Brewer, Baylor Varner, Eli Freyer, Jared Moore, Chris Rouse and Matthew Nunez each added singles.
Moore pitched a complete game, scattering seven hits while striking out three and walking none.
“It was good to get another district win. Jared pitched well again tonight. His last two outings he’s put us in a position to win. He made another bare handed catch on the mound tonight. He’s a tough kid who does what it takes to win,” Harlan coach Lee Freyer said. “Offensively. we put ourselves in position to win. This season we have struggled some with runners in scoring position. We’ve talked about being a team player and doing a job. Just move the guy over. We did a much better job of that tonight. Defensively, tonight wasn’t our best effort. We didn’t have many errors in the scorebook, but there were a few plays we could’ve made and didn’t. This late in the season we need to make those plays in games to win.”
Daniel Thomas led the 3-18 Bobcats with three hits and four RBI. Blake Burnett had a double and single. Austin Goodin singled twice. Peyton Mason had a double. Jackson Walters added a single.
Harlan returns to action Friday at Pineville.
