After three straight wins to reach the semifinals of the consolation bracket of the KABC Titans Shootout, the Harlan County Black Bears fell 63-57 to Jeffersonville, Ind., on Sunday. Jeffersonville went on to win the consolation bracket of the 64-team tournament.
Harlan County has a 15-3 record for the summer and will close its summer schedule in Ohio where some of the nation’s top players and teams will converge.
“The KABC Titans Shootout was a great experience for our kids this week. We got to see and play against some great competition. A lot of people do not put much stock in summer ball, but I disagree. Playing the competition we played this week and the teams we will see next week, improves your team’s toughness, both mentally and physically,” Jones said. “It also shows us as coaches and our kids what we need to work on in order to reach the teams goals we want to achieve next season. For example, we played one of the most talented and physical teams these kids have seen since our staff began coaching last summer.”
