Harlan County split a pair of middle school football games Thursday at Rockcastle County, winning 20-12 in the seventh-grade game and falling 36-8 in eighth-grade action.
Preston Amburgy gave the Bears an early lead with a 5-yard touchdown run. Jackson Mackowiak completed a pass to Jaxon Daniels for the two-point conversion.
Mackowiak scored on a run in the second quarter.
Hudson Faulkner scored the Bears’ final touchdown in the fourth period.
Rockcastle County built a 28-0 halftime before the Bears put together a long drive in the third quarter that ended with Brayden Morris’ 5-yard touchdown run and two-point conversion.
All three Harlan County teams will play Thursday at home against Knox Central.

The Harlan fifth- and sixth-grade team improved to 3-1 with a 14-8 win at Jackson County. No scoring information was available.
Harlan defeated Middlesboro 30-26 last week as Ryder Lemar led the Dragons with three touchdowns and a two-point conversion. Hunter Simpson added a touchdown. Isaiah Caudill added a pair of two-point conversions.
