The Harlan County Lady Bears celebrated Senior Night with a 7-0 win Thursday over visiting Bell County, improving to 3-3 overall and 3-1 in district action.
Callie Smith, a junior, led HCHS with five goals and two assists. Holly Wright added two goals and four assists. Victoria Day added one assist. Willow Peace recorded eight goalkeeper saves.
“I couldn’t be more pleased with our effort last night. Our seniors truly left it all on the field for their last home game,” Harlan County coach Hannah Pittman said. “Callie Smith and Holly Wright both played by far their best game of the season, with Callie scoring or assisting on all seven of our goals. Willow Peace also was big for us as she secured another shutout.”
Kiley Cupp had four goalkeeper saves for the Lady Cats, who fell to 2-8 overall.
Bell County will return to action Tuesday at J. Frank White Academy, then close the regular season on Thursday at home against Hazard.
Harlan County will travel to Knox Central on Monday, Middlesboro on Tuesday and Perry Central on Thursday to close the regular season.
