Harlan County guard Ella Karst began a senior season that could be filled with milestones by exploding for 45 points on Saturday as the Lady Bears rolled to a 67-40 scrimmage victory at Williamsburg.
Karst scored six points in the first quarter as the Lady Bears built a 14-4 lead, then added 11 in the second as the HCHS advantage grew to 30-12 at halftime. She scored 15 in the third quarter as HCHS outscored Williamsburg 21-12, then added 13 in the final period as each team scored 16 points.
Faith Hoskins and Whitley Teague added seven and six points, respectively, for the Lady Bears. HCHS played without junior guard Kylie Jones, who is recovering from an ankle injury.
The Lady Bears play their final scrimmage on Tuesday at North Laurel.
