Former, current county hoops standouts at HC-Douglass game
February 5, 2024
One former Southeastern Conference basketball player from Harlan County met a future Southeastern Conference player Saturday when the Harlan County Black Bears were in Lexington to play Frederick Douglass in the Jock Sutherland Classic at Lafayette High School. Lynette Lewis Shadoan helped lead Cawood High School to the 1978 Sweet Sixteen as a sophomore and runner-up finishes in 1979 and 1980. She went on to play four years at the University of Kentucky and was a member of the 1982 SEC championship squad. She is pictured with two-time Harlan County High School all-stater Trent Noah, who will continue his basketball career at South Carolina. Noah has scored 3,272 points in his high school and needs 94 points to break Charles Thomas’ county record.
