Harlan and Harlan County were five for five in the loss column over the weekend in the Mountain Strong Softball Classic at Letcher Central.
The Lady Bears were limited to one hit, a single by Lesleigh Brown, in a 7-1 loss to Belfry on Thursday. Alexis Adams gave up three runs in two inning, striking out one and walking one. Alyssa Sherman allowed four runs in three innings with five strikeouts and eight walks.
Harlan County fell 10-2 to Shelby Valley on Friday as Sherman gave up 10 hits in a complete-game effort in the circle. Madison Blair led the offense with two singles, Halanah Shepherd had a double. Sherman, Rylie Maggard, Jade Burton, Jenna Wilson and Skidmore added one single each.
The 5-15 Lady Bears travel to Pineville on Tuesday.
Harlan was held hitless Friday in a 15-0 loss to Letcher Central. Mallory McNiel gave up seven runs and Amy Roman gave up eight in sharing time in the circle.
The Lady Dragons fell 13-0 to Belfry on Saturday. Gracie Hensley had the only hit for Harlan. McNiel allowed 13 runs on 12 hits in 4 2/3 innings.
Ella Lisenbee had Harlan’s only hit with a triple, driving home Ella Farley, in a 22-1 loss to Shelby Valley. McNiel suffered the loss as she gave up 11 runs. Roman and Lisenbee also pitched.
The 8-11 Lady Dragons travel to Barbourville on Monday.
