Lady Dragons coast past East Bernstadt

Harlan avenged an early-season loss and ran its record to 9-3 with a 6-1 win Monday over visiting East Bernstadt in middle school softball action.
Taylor Glenn had an inside-the-park homer and single and Shaedyn Crow added three singles to lead the Harlan offense. Adelynn Burgan had a triple and single. Daria Lee singled twice. Chrissy Saylor added a triple. Harmonee Mills and Priscilla Stewart contributed one single each.
Burgan pitched a three-hitter with 11 strikeouts and two walks.
Harlan returns to action Thursday at Harlan County.

Hensley’s hit sends Harlan County to victory

Brinley Hensley drove home the game-winning run with a single in the fifth inning as Harlan County edged visiting Barbourville 8-7 on Monday in middle school softball.
Raegan Landa led the HC offense with an inside-the-park homer and sdouble. Carmen Gamboa had a triple and two singles. Hensley singled twice. Aniston Burton and Maddy Fields added one single each.
Fields struck out four and walked two while giving up five runs on five hits in three innings. Landa allowed two runs on four hits with three strikeouts and one walk in two innings.
