Lindsey Skidmore and Alexis Adams are making the most of their opportunities this season with the Harlan County Lady Bears.
Skidmore, a sophomore, singled home Rylie Maggard with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning in a 2-1 win over visiting Lynn Camp. The hit came two days after Skidmore closed out a 15-0 three-inning win over Harlan with a two-out, two-run single.
Adams, a freshman, pitched a no-hitter for the Lady Bears with 11 strikeouts and five walks as she evened her record on the season at 7-7.
Skidmore, Aviya Halcomb, Jenna Wilson and Madison Blair each had hits for the Lady Bears. Halcomb scored the other run for HCHS.
Lynn Camp, the fourth-ranked team in the 13th Region in the RPI ratings, fell to 14-10.
The Lady Bears were no match for the region’s top team on Saturday morning in an 18-0 loss to visiting South Laurel.
Halanah Shepherd had the only hit for the 7-17 Lady Bears.
Adams suffered the loss as she gave up 10 runs on seven hits to start the game. Aly Sherman allowed eight runs on 11 hits in 3 2/3 innings.
Harlan County returns to action Thursday at home against Middlesboro in a key district battle.
