Best known as the school’s top golfer the past couple of years, Harlan’s Aiden Johnson is having a nice senior season on the mound for the Green Dragons.
Johnson ran his record to 4-0 as he pitched a two-hitter with five strikeouts and only one walk as the Dragons coasted past visiting Middlesboro 11-1 on Tuesday.
Gunnar Snelling, also a senior, had a double and single, as did sophomore Baylor Varner, to lead the Harlan offense. Eli Freyer singled twice. Jake Brewer, Donovan Montanaro and Jared Moore added one hit each.
Cayden Burchett doubled and Isaac Harris singled for the only Middlesboro hits.
Ethan Johnson gave up nine runs (five earned) on seven hits with two strikeouts and three walks in three innings. Burchett allowed two runs on two hits in one inning.
The 19-7 Dragons travel to Leslie County on Thursday. The 3-14 Jackets play host to Barbourville on Thursday.
