Black Bears open season with a hard-fought loss at Middlesboro

Middlesboro’s Aiden Larew and Harlan County’s Ray Splawn battled for possession of the ball in the season opener for the Bears on Tuesday. The Yellow Jackets won 2-1. No statistics are available for either team. Middlesboro suffered an 8-0 loss at South Laurel on Thursday and will play at Hazard on Monday. Harlan County lost 6-0 to Whitley County last Monday and defeated Letcher Central 5-2 on Friday and will play at Barbourville on Thursday.
