It was a district matinee Saturday at Harlan County High School, but there was very little mystery involved as the Lady Bears tied a school record for victories by rolling past visiting Middlesboro 25-4, 25-6, 25-7 to improve to 20-5 overall and 4-1 in district action.
The Lady Bears can break the record and clinch a tie for the top seed in the 52nd District Tournament with a win Monday at Harlan.
Kylee Hoiska led the Lady Bears with 10 kills, five service aces, three blocks and three digs. Savannah Hill had 18 assists, four digs and two aces. Kalista Dunn added seven aces and four kills. Ashton Evans had seven kills, six aces and two digs. Ashlynn Williamson added three aces, three digs and two assists. Madilynn Nolan added three kills and one dig.
The 3-10 Lady Jackets take next week off before playing host to J. Frank White, Tenn., on Oct. 14 and travel to Knox Central the next night to close the regular season.
