Harlan’s Moore attends college baseball showcase in Tennessee

Harlan senior pitcher/first baseman Jared Moore participated in a college showcase over the weekend in Smyrna, Tenn. His past baseball showcases have included trips to Cincinnati, Eastern and Alice Lloyd with another coming up in November at East Tennessee State University.

Harlan County freshman Zayden Casolari won the 13th Region Media Network award for most saves in the 2024. Casolari had four saves and an earned run average of 3.87 in 32 innings on the mound. He was tied for fourth in the state.

The local Appalachian Athletics Varner squad won the Battle of Eastern Kentucky over the weekend by sweeping four games.

The Appalachian Athletics Varner team won the Dragon Classic on June 8-9 and finished second in the Father's Day Classic Knoxville on June 15-16.

Harlan first baseman Jared Moore took the throw as Corbin's Noah Cima stepped on the bag in regional tournament action. Both Moore and Cima hit home runs in the game.
