After blowout wins in the first two rounds of the UVA-Wise Prep Classic, the Harlan Lady Dragons were on the other side Saturday in a 72-35 loss to Wise Central, Va., in the tournament championship game Saturday.
The LadyDragons were held to single digits scoring in each of the first three quarters as Wise Central raced to a 21-8 lead after one quarter and pushed the advantage to 41-12 at halftime and 58-19 after three quarters.
Emma McAlarnis proved to be a matchup problem as she scored 23 points, including 12 of 12 at the free throw line. Abbie Jordan added 21 points.
Aymanni Wynn scored 11 and Cheyenne Rhymer added 10 for the 2-1 Lady Dragons.
Harlan returns to action Wednesday against Knott Central in the first round of the WYMT Mountain Classic at Perry Central.

Harlan fell 39-38 to Wise Central in junior varsity action.
Addison Campbell led the 2-1 Lady Dragons with 19 points. Clarissa Yost added seven. Raegan Goodman and Addyson Patton chipped in with six each.
