Down four late in the third quarter, Harlan County reeled off 17 unanswered points to take control on the way to a 62-50 win Saturday over Sumter, S.C., in the consolation bracket of the Hilton Head Islands Seahawk Holiday Classic.
Maddox Huff and Brennan Blevins each hit 3-pointers to close the third quarter as the Bears took a 45-43 lead. Huff and Brody Napier each had baskets to start the fourth quarter, and Jaycee Carter hit a 3 as the Bears scored the first 11 points of the period to put the game away.
Huff finished with 22 points to lead the 6-2 Bears. Carter added 13 points and 10 rebounds. Napier chipped in with 11. Trent Cole tossed in nine. Blevins scored seven as he made his second straight start with junior guar Reggie Cottrell sidelined for the week due to an ankle injury suffered last week in the WYMT Mountain Classic.
B.J. Brown scored 18 and Eli Britt added 10 for Sumter.
Harlan County will play in the fifth-place game on Sunday at 3 p.m.
