Russell overcame a 13-point halftime deficit to hold off Harlan 79-74 in overtime in the consolation bracket of the Defender Classic at Bryan Station High School.
Gabby Osborne scored 23 points to lead Russell (7-3). including 11 points in the third quarter as the Lady Red Devils outscored Harlan 27-10 to take a four-point lead. Kennedy Darnett added 17 points, followed by Bethany Allen with 15 and Kenley Kouns with 10.
Freshman guard Peyshaunce Wynn poured in 31 points to lead the 5-6 Lady Dragons. Senior guard Aymanni Wynn added 20 points as she moved within two points of becoming the third Lady Dragon to each the 2,000-point mark in their careers. Cheyenne Rhymer tossed in 10.
Harlan hit 16 of 16 free throws in the fourth quarter to outscore Russell 22-18 and force overtime.
The Lady Dragons conclude tournament play Sunday.
