After falling behind 17-15 after one quarter Thursday at Harlan, the South Lady Cardinals took over on the defensive end and pulled away for a 51-40 victory.
Sophomore forward Maci Messer scored 15 to lead the Lady Cardinals. Callie Jones tossed in 13, and Jamie Buenaventura added 10.
Senior forward Kylie Noe paced Harlan with 16 points. Aymanni Wynn scored 10.
The 7-8 Lady Dragons are scheduled to open play in the 13th Region All “A’ Classic on Saturday at 2 p.m. against Oneida Baptist at Middlesboro. The 8-4 Lady Cardinals are scheduled to travel to Corbin on Tuesday.
