The Harlan County High School cheerleaders placed second in the Kentucky 2A State Tournament in Owensboro. Squad members include Chyla Witt, Cheyenne Brackett, Alexis Dean, Mylee Cress, Haley Huff, Amber Lawson, Kate Cornett, Kaylissa Daniels, Charli Shepherd, Katie Smith, Maddie Middleton, Emmalyn Branson, Hannah Brotherton, Destiny Cooper, Anabelle Collett, Olivia Johnson, Carleigh Hensley, Gracyn Lewis, Destinee Hensley, Samantha Henson, Gracelynn Johnson and Briley Sergent.

Harlan County High School cheerleaders win competition
The Harlan County High School cheerleaders placed second in their division at UCA National Preliminary on Saturday to advance to the national semifinals on Monday at ESPN in Orlando, Fla. They will now compete against 16 other teams from around the nation at 12:01 p.m. Awards will be held at 1:30, and nine teams will advance to the national finals later that afternoon.

The Harlan County High School cheerleaders won the Region 7 championship on Saturday at the O. Wayne Rollins Center at the University of the Cumberlands. The squad will advance to state competition on Dec. 8 at George Rogers Clark High School in Winchester.
