Girls basketball pioneers honored

Three players from the first 52nd District Tournament held in 1975 at Harlan High School were honored at halftime of this year’s championship game Thursday. The former players included Kathy Thomas, who played at Lynch; Maralee Holder, who played at Harlan; and Kim Kelley, who played at Cawood.
Lynch won the first 52nd District Tournament title in 1975 at Harlan High School.
Cawood won the first 13th Region Tournament title in county history in 1978. Starters included, from left, Lynette Lewis, Pattie Tidwell, Kim Kelley, Kim Cromer and Lisa Vanover.
