King University rolled into the semifinals of the Conference Carolinas Tournament with an 80-69 win Friday over Young Harris in Spartanburg, S.C.
Mikhail Pocknett was one of four King players in double figures with 20 points. Xavier Betancourt scored 18. Seth Cullen and Jordan Akal added 12 points each.
Akal, a former Harlan all-stater, hit four of 13 shots from the field and four of is at the line while adding six rebounds. Akal, a junior, is averaging just under 19 points a game this season to rank sixth in the conference in scoring.
King will play UNC Penbroke on Saturday at 5:15 in the first semifinal game. Emmanuel will take on the Chowa/Barton winner in the other semifinal.
