Harlan’s Tanner Daniels had an impressive performance Wednesday at Louisville for the Class A Indoor Track and Field State Championships.
Daniels finished second overall in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 4:30.57. He placed fourth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:00.89.
“He’s proven to be a winner and every coach’s dream. You never have to worry about him not getting his workout in,” Harlan track coach Trent McKenzie said. “As a freshman, going to the indoor state meet and finishing runner up and then fourth place shows how bright his future will be.”
“Tanner was well aware that this would be a fiercely competitive race, but he was also familiar with the territory, having navigated it successfully over the past couple of years,” Tim Daniels, Tanner’s dad, said. “He ran a strategic race, keeping pace with the top-ranked senior commit to Boston College until the final 200 meters, ultimately finishing just two seconds behind. His hard work and dedication have truly paid off, and I’m eager to see what the outdoor season holds for him.”
