The Harlan County middle school and elementary school soccer leagues began regular season action on Monday.
To start off the evening, Wallins defeated Evarts 2-1. Hunter Evans scored the only goal in the first half to have Wallins leading 1-0 at halftime. Jace Sargent tacked on Wallins’ second goal during the second half. Jesse Sergent took the penalty kick for Evarts in the second half that put them on the scoreboard.
Wallins defeated Evarts 4-1. After 11 minutes of play, Bryson Robbins scored the first and only goal in the first half of play to put Wallins up 1-0. Within five minutes of the second half, Robbins scored again to put Wallins up 2-0. Continued tough action kept the score unchanged until 4:49 remained on the clock when Mason Howard scored for Wallins. Howard quickly regained control of the ball after kickoff and scored again at the 4:11 mark, putting Wallins up 4-0. Evarts finally saw some daylight with 1:41 left on the clock when Caysen Farley scored.
Cumberland defeated James A. Cawood 2-1. In the first five minutes of the game Zach Smith scored to set the tone for Cumberland. With 20:31 left on the clock in the first half, Brianna Barnett kicked in another goal for Cumberland pushing them to a 2-0 lead. James A. Cawood finally found themselves on the scoreboard with 10:10 left in the first half when Joe Wright scored.

Players from Wallins and Evarts competed during the first day of action in the county soccer league, including Gage Collett and Mason Howard, of Wallins, and Evarts’ Aiden Napier. Howard scored two goals for the Purple Devils.
