If you’re a softball fan who likes plenty of offense, you may want to watch a senior-dominated Harlan squad this season. Harlan collected 31 runs in a doubleheader sweep Saturday at Lynn Camp as the Lady Dragons downed Powell County 13-4 and then the host Lady Cats 18-6.
Senior third baseman Ella Lisenbee was three for three against Powell with three RBI on a triple and two doubles. Addison Jackson homered while driving in three and scoring three. Abbi Fields also drove in three runs with a double and single. Jordyn Smith had a triple and single. Ella Farley, Ava Nunez and Gracie Hensley added one single each.
Smith earned the win in the circle as she struck out 11 and walked none over four innings while giving up one run on three hits. Fields pitched the final inning, giving up three runs (two earned) on one hit with one strikeout.
Lisenbee drove in seven runs against Lynn Camp with a homer, double and single. Fields added two doubles and a single. Nunez had a double and single. Farley, Smith and Jackson each added two hits with Farley scoring four times. Addison Campbell had one single.
Smith pitched a complete game, giving up nine hits while striking out four and walking one.
Harlan opened its season with a 13-8 loss in nine innings at home against Letcher Central.
Farley and Fields each recorded three hits to lead the Lady Dragons. Jackson had two hits. Lisenbee added a triple. Nunez and Hensley had singles.
Smith pitched a complete game, giving up 13 runs (11 earned) on 20 hits, with two strikeouts and one walk.
Harlan (2-1) will play two district games at home this week, Tuesday against Bell County and Thursday against Middlesboro.
