Harlan County rallied from an early 4-0 deficit but fell 6-5 to visiting Shelby Valley on Monday.
Jesse Gilbert shut out the Wildcats over the final three innings as he struck out five, walked none and gave up two hits.
Alex Creech and Aiden Craig led the HCHS offense with two singles each from the top two spots in the order. Gilbert, Zayden Casolari, Brennan Blevins, Chance Sturgill and Gunnar Johnson added one single each.
Casolari started on the mound for the Bears, giving up six runs on nine hits over three innings with five strikeouts and no walks. Carson Clark walked two and struck out one in one inning on the mound.
Harlan County returns to action today at Whitley County, taking on McCreary Central in the 2A, Section 7 Tournament.
