After two blowout losses to start the season, the Jackson County Generals have reeled off six straight victory, all by at least nine runs.
The Generals followed a 20-0 first-round win over Middlesboro with an 11-1 six-inning win Wednesday at home against defending champ Harlan in the 13th Region All “A” Classic semifinals.
Cayden Farmer dominated on the mound as he gave up only one run on three hits with 14 strikeouts and no walks.
Michael Sparks, Ashton Clemons, Lucas Elam and Davin Seals each had two hits for the 6-2 Generals. Jackson Lakes, Elijah Thomas and Jonathon Roark added one hit each.
Luke Luttrell suffered the loss as he gave up three runs on four hits with two strikeouts and one walk in three innings. Baylor Varner allowed eight runs on seven hits with five strikeouts and one walk in 2 1/3 innings.
Eli Freyer, Brody Owens and Chris Rouse each had singles for Harlan.
“It was a tough loss for us tonight. Jackson County deserves a ton of credit. They came out ready to play, set the tone early and continued to execute all night,” Harlan coach Lee Freyer said. “I told the boys there are going to be nights like this. You just have to tip your cap to the other team and move on from it. We have a lot of things we can take from this game and learn from. I know this group I have is resilient. There is still a ton of baseball left in front of us. We just have to get back to work.”
The 3-2 Dragons return to action Saturday in a doubleheader at Betsy Layne. Jackson County will play Barbourville in the tournament finals on Thursday.
