Thomas powers Green Dragons to win over Pineville
Cooper Thomas collected three hits and scored three runs, including the game winner on a wild pitch as Harlan edged Pineville 5-4 Thursday in middle school baseball action.
Derrick Holman also had three hits as part of Harlan’s 11-hit attack. Carson Yount added two hits. Zach Boggs had a double. Isaiah Pryor and Bentley Howard added one single each.
Thomas pitched five innings, giving up four runs on seven hits with five strikeouts and three walks. Holman earned the win as he pitched one shutout inning, giving up two hits while striking out one and walking one.
Dragons rally for victory over Williamsburg
Harlan scored three runs in the sixth and final inning for a walk-off 4-3 win over visiting Williamburg in middle school baseball action Friday.
Zach Boggs and Brantley McArthur each had two hits to lead the Dragons. Cooper Thomas and Carson Yount added one hit each.
Boggs had a two-run triple to tie the game, then scored the final run on Yount’s single.
Brody Brock gave up three runs on 12 hits with five strikeouts and no walks over 5 1/3 innings. Boggs earned the win as he walked one and allowed one hit in recording the final two outs.

Shepherd, Johnson lead Redskins past Middlesboro
The Cumberland Redskins pounded out 16 hits Thursday in rolling to an 18-4 win over Middlesboro in middle school baseball action.
Byron Shepherd and Robby Johnson each had three hits to lead the Redskins. Brayan Perez had a triple and single. Brycen Saylor and Nathan Harrell each added a double and single. Tobey Lunsford singled twice. Hunter Fuson contributed a double. Balin Foutch added a single.
Lunsford and Foutch each pitched two innings with Lunsford striking out two and Foutch striking out one.
