After letting a win get away when visiting Lee, Va., scored five runs in the final inning to win 6-2, Harlan County bounced back in the nightcap Friday for a 5-3 victory to break a four-game losing streak to open the season.
Aiden Craig, Jesse Gilbert, Brennan Blevins and Kayden Adams each had two hits to lead the Bears in their win. Alex Creech, Brayden Morris and DeShaun Smith added one hit each.
Zayden Casolari earned the win in relief as he gave up only one hit in three shutout innings. Aiden Lewis allowed three runs (one earned) in two innings with three walks as he started on the mound.
Harlan County led 2-1 in the fifth and final inning of the opening game against Lee before a throwing error with two outs led to three unearned runs and gave the Generals the win.
Creech had the only hit for the Bears with a two-run single.
Gilbert pitched four-plus innings, giving up two runs (one earned) on one hit with eight strikeouts and one walk. Creech allowed four unearned runs on two hits with no strikeouts and one walk. Casolari gave up one hit and recorded one out.

Cayden Williams and Austin Hughes teamed on a no-hitter as Hazard blanked the Bears 15-0 in three innings on Monday. Carson Clark suffered the loss as he gave up eight runs on two hits and five walks in 1 2/3 innings. Aiden Lewis gave up six runs on four hits. Gunnar Johnson pitched 1 2/3 shutout innings with three strikeouts and one walk.
Harlan County (1-5) returns to action Friday at home against Rockcastle County.
