Lady Bears rally to edge Cumberland in middle school action

Down 8-3 in the second inning, Harlan County rallied for a 9-8 win over Cumberland in middle school softball action Thursday at Harlan County High School.
Katie Smith led the Lady Skins with two doubles and three singles. Peyton Lewis had a double and two singles. Izzy Pendleton and Lilly Blair each added two singles. Julionna Johnson, Lexi Boggs, Lilly Scott and Sienna Banks each contributed one single.
Boggs pitched three innings with one strikeout and six walks. Pendleton pitched 1 1/3 innings with two strikeouts and one walk.
Stats were not available for Harlan County but will be added later.

Helton leads Bears to victory over Middlesboro

Gabriel Helton scattered five hits over four innings while striking out seven to lead Harlan County to an 8-2 win Thursday at Middlesboro in middle school baseball action.
Hunter Coker led the Bears on offense with a double and two singles. Logan Mills singled twice. Helton added a double. Jackson Mackowiak contributed a single.
Zach Patterson paced the Jackets with two singles. Jackson Womack, Kaan Brown and Jojo Rodriguez added one single each.
Mitchell Capps struck out five over three innings.
