Evarts and Black Mountain soccer teams took to the pitch to start games Tuesday evening, and Evarts 1-0. The Wildcats controlled the ball for the majority of the game, which led Sadie Clark to score with 13:52 left in the first half. Black Mountain’s defense held off any further attempts at the goal but could not manage to form an offensive threat against the Wildcats.
Evarts and Black Mountain middle school teams faced off in the second game Tuesday evening. Coming off a big defeat earlier in the season, Black Mountain came out strong against Evarts, but Evarts defeated Black Mountain with a score of 4-0. There was no scoring in the first 15 minutes of the game, until Jesse Pendergrass found the goal, making the score 1-0. With 5:32 left in the first half, Carson Clark put the ball in the back of the net. In the second half, the trend continued with competitive play. Carter Sawyers scored after 18 minutes into the second half. Jace Hensley managed to tack on a point for Evarts with 7:04 remaining in the second half.
The third and final game of the evening slated James A. Cawood against Cumberland. After a loss to Cumberland earlier in the season, James A. Cawood found a determination and drive that helped them defeat Cumberland by a score of 7-2. The first half was very competitive with Cumberland controlling the ball most of regulation. Carson Kazy managed to find the goal with 10:01 remaining in the first half. Kazy’s goal was the only one scored in the first half. In the second half, James A. Cawood managed to pick up on possession time. Joe Wright launched a deep shot at 24:04 that appeared to jump start a scoring frenzy for James A. Cawood. Kazy earned himself another goal with 17:21 remaining. Wright earned his second goal with 15:17 remaining in the second half,. Kazy achieved his hat trick immediately after with 15:07 remaining,. Avan Middleton found himself a goal with 8:55 remaining. With 6:19 left in the second half, Hailey Collins scored her first goal for the season. As darkness started to set, Cumberland was determined to fight back and managed to take back control of the ball for the remainder of the game. With 4:31 remaining, Zack Smith put Cumberland on the board. The final goal was scored with under two minutes remaining in the game by Smith.

Wallins defeated Black Mountain 1-0 in elementary action to start the night on Thursday. A intensely competitive game was scoreless during the first half. At the 13:43 mark, Bella Saylor found the goal to give WES its single goal on the night.
Wallins enforces mercy rule against Black Mountain early in the second half during middle school play, winning 8-0. Leslie Pitts started the scoring driving for Wallins with 23:14 left to play in the first half. Less than a minute later, Mason Howard found his first goal. At 21:11, Pitts earned his second goal. In less than 30 seconds, Bryson Robbins picked up another goal for Wallins for a 4-0 lead. Pitts completed his hat trick at 20:20 left on the clock. Robbins followed up at 18:11 on the clock for another Wallins goal. Howard found room to make his second goal with 16:13 remaining in the half. The remainder of the first half was played without a goal scored. In the second half, Wallins immediately marched the ball down the field and Brooke Haywood sent the ball soaring into the net, which ended the game.
James A. Cawood defeated Rosspoint in middle school action to end the night, winning 7-0. Joe Wright started the scoring for James A. Cawood with 28:13 to play in the first half. Carson Kazy followed up at the 21:20 mark for his first goal on the night. The remainder of the first half was a defensive battle on both sides of the field. Early in the second half, Kazy earned his second goal. At 27:01, Avan Middleton put a point on the board for James A. Cawood. Middleton scored again with 22:57 to play. At 11:28 remaining, Middleton earned his hat trick. Kazy followed suit at earn his hat trick with just 18 seconds remaining.
