The two most experienced Harlan Lady Dragons came through in the clutch Friday with the game at Knott Central on the line, making a winner of the newest Lady Dragon in her high school pitching debut.
With Harlan trailing 4-3 in the top of the seventh inning, senior catcher Addison Jackson singled to center. Senior third baseman Ella Lisenbee followed with a hit that brought in Jackson to tie the game. Lisenbee raced home with the go-ahead run on a passed ball.
Adelynn Lewis, a seventh-grader, finished off the Lady Patriots in the bottom of the seventh inning to earn her first high school win in the circle in her first high school game. Lewis struck out 11 and walked three while giving up seven hits.
Lisenbee and Ava Nunez each had a double and single while Jackson singled twice to lead the Harlan offense. Ella Farley added a double. Ally Kirby, Gracie Hensley and Jaylyn Wynn added one single each.
The 9-4 Lady Dragons play host to Harlan County on Tuesday.
