Evarts and Cumberland took to the field to start off their Saturday on Eighth Grade Recognition Day. The matchup spanned the whole field for the entire game as the teams battled it out and Evarts walked off the field with a 4-2 win over Cumberland. Evarts made it on the scoreboard in the first 10 minutes of action when Aiden Napier found the goal for the Wildcats. Cumberland quickly answered a few minutes later when Zack Smith found his way to the goal for the Redskins. With a tie game of 1-1, the ball remained out of the goal until 10:32 when Jesse Pendergrass sent the ball into the net. In the second half Jace Hensley paced Evarts with his first goal of the game at the 22:21 mark. Hensley would find room to work for another goal with 15:48 remaining. Close to the 14 minute mark, Jocelyn Roman scored a nice chip shot for the Redskins. At the end of regulation, Evarts defeated Cumberland with a score of 4-2.
The next game slated for the day had James A. Cawood and Black Mountain elementary teams facing off before the ceremony. Black Mountain did not have the minimum number of required players to play so James A. Cawood secured the win via forfeit.
After the ceremony to celebrate the eighth graders from each school, James A. Cawood and Black Mountain faces off in middle school action. James A. Cawood defeated Black Mountain 2-0. A competitive first half had the game tied 0-0 at halftime. James A. Cawood found the scoreboard halfway through the second half when Joe Wright sent the ball sailing into the net. Just a couple minutes later at the 11:26 mark, Wright earned his brace. At the end of regulation, James A. Cawood defeated Black Mountain with a score of 2-0.
The final game for Saturday had Wallins and Rosspoint on the pitch for middle school play. Wallins continued their dominating trend of play, defeating Rosspoint 10-0. Leslie Pitts put Wallins on the board at 28:42 to play. Mason Howard found his first of five goals at the 26:29 mark. Bryson Robbins followed up a couple minutes later for his first goal. Howard’s second goal came at 22:26 remaining on the clock. Pitts second goal soared in with 21:26 remaining. Robbins scored again near the halfway mark of the first half. Brooklyn Haywood earned her goal of the day at 10:47. It was all Howard towards the end, scoring at 6:56, 4:12, and 1:23. The second half was not played as the mercy rule was imposed.

Wallins and James A. Cawood took to the field for our first contest of the night in elementary soccer. James A. Cawood defeated Wallins by a score of 3-1. The game appeared very competitive as neither team managed to score in the first half. Carson Kazy found the back of the net early in the second half to put JACES on the scoreboard. Leah Collins followed scoring less than a minute later for JACES. Kazy found his second goal of the evening with 4:35 left to play. Wallins’ Bella Saylor would not let the game go without managing a tough shot for her team with 1:18 remaining.
Wallins and James A. Cawood played the second game of the evening in middle school action. Wallins defeated James A. Cawood 9-1. The first 10 minutes of play was very competitive, as neither team managed to get the ball into the goal. Mason Howard worked the first half for Wallins eventually, scoring 4 goals at the 20:49, 14:56, 8:39, and 7:12 marks on the clock. Carson Kazy scored James A. Cawood’s on goal of the game with 4:28 left in the first half. The 4-1 halftime score was one of the lowest Wallins has had this season. Entering the second half, Wallins came out and commanded the field. Leslie Pitts scored right away for Wallins within seconds. Bryson Robbins earned his first goal at the 26:34 mark. Howard found a couple more goals at 25:53 and 24:33. Robbins scored the final goal to enact the mercy rule at 24:20.
Black Mountain and Cumberland played the final game of the evening in middle school soccer. The game ended in a 1-1 draw for both teams. A highly competitive defensive game kept the scoreboard empty until Brianna Barrett sent a long shot in with 11:15 to play in the first half. Black Mountain did not find the scoreboard until Jaiden Turner found space on the backside of the goal and scored with 4:02 remaining in the game.

A rainy Thursday resulted in a couple clean sheets. James A. Cawood defeated Rosspoint 5-0 and Evarts defeated Cumberland 7-0.
The first game of the evening pitted James A. Cawood against Rosspoint in middle school soccer. James A. Cawood defeated Rosspoint 5-0. A very competitive first half resulted in only one goal being scored. Cidda Middleton put James A. Cawood on the board with 16:34 left to play in the half. The second half was where James A. Cawood found their rhythm as the rain started pouring. Avan Middleton scored one of his two goals with 21:02 on the clock. Joe Wright found the net at the 13:34 mark. A. Middleton earned his second goal with 10:30 remaining in regulation. The final score of the game was pushed up field and scored by Carson Kazy with 8:59 on the clock.
Evarts faced Cumberland in the second game of the evening winning 7-0. Carter Sawyers earned his first goal with 15: 25 on the clock. Jace Hensley found the net with 10:11 remaining in the first half. Jesse Pendergrass paced Evarts earning a hat trick on the night. Pendergrass’s first goal of the evening came at 0:35 remaining on the clock in the first half. Sawyers scored early in the second half for Evarts, with 28:12 on the clock. Pendergrass found his final two goals at 27:14 and 21:17, respectively, to complete his trio. Hensley managed his second goal of the night with 11:36 remaining in regulation.
