Mills pitches 1-hitter as Bears coast past Harlan
Logan Mills dominated on the mound Saturday, tossing a one-hitter as Harlan County rolled to a 16-0 win at Harlan in middle school baseball action.
Mills faced only one batter over the minimum as he struck out six and walked one. He had a no-hitter until Cooper Thomas led off the fourth inning with a single.
Andrew Vance led the Harlan County offense with two doubles and a single. Winn Cooper, Jackson Mackowiak and Mills had two singles each. Carter Caldwell added a double. Hunter Coker, Bryson Kelly and Gabriel Helton added one single each.
Thomas, Derrick Holman and Landon Smith shared mound duty for the Dragons.
Helton, Mills lead Bears to win over Cumberland.
Gabriel Helton and Logan Mills, both sixth graders, had a double and single each as Harlan County defeated Cumberland 7-2 on Monday in middle school baseball action.
Jackson Mackowiak, Carter Caldwell and Myles Jenkins added one single each.
Caldwell struck out three and walked two in four innings on the mound. Helton walked three in two innings.
Hunter Fuson led Cumberland with two singles. Tobey Lunsford, Nate Harrell and Byron Shepherd added one single each.
Lunsford struck out three and walked five in 2 1/3 innings on the mound. Shepherd struck out three and walked three in 2 2/3 innings.
