Addison Jackson supplied the power and Jordyn Smith provided the pitching as the Harlan Lady Dragons left little double they are the favorite heading into the 52nd District Tournament with a 12-1 rout of Bell County in a game stopped in the fifth inning due to rain on Friday at Log Mountain.
Jackson hit her seventh homer this season and added two doubles as she drove in four runs to lead the Harlan offense. Ava Nunez drove in two runs with a double and two singles. Ally Kirby doubled twice. Ella Lisenbee had a triple and single. Ella Farley, Smith and Gracie Hensley added two singles each. Addison Campbell had a double.
“We hit the ball really well tonight, and everyone contributed. It was another good game defensively,” Harlan coach David Overbay said. “We have to keep working and getting better in these last two weeks of the regular season.”
Smith, an eighth grader, recorded her 100th strikeout this season as she pitched a two-hitter with six strikeouts and no walks.
“Jordan has worked so hard. She has grown so much from last year. Her composure and maturity gets better every game,” Overbay said. “I was super proud of our whole team. Every player on our team is focused on getting better each practice and each game”
Addison Maiden homered in the first inning for the only Bell run. Kyleigh Allen added a single.
Adyson Scott gave up 12 runs on 17 hits with one strikeout and no walks.
Harlan (13-5) returns to action Tuesday at Shelby Valley. Bell County (8-11) plays host to Lynn Camp on Monday.

Bell County rolled to a 16-1 three-inning win Thursday at home over Somerset Christian School.
Laryssa Matthews pitched a two-hitter and gave up one unearned run with four strikeouts and one walk.
Jayda Boateng and Maiden each had a homer and double to lead the Bell offense. Tristan Saylor and Madelyn Fuson each added a double and single. Scott had a triple. Allen added a single.
