Much like her Harlan teammate Kylie Noe, Aymanni Wynn planned to end her basketball career when the Harlan Lady Dragons fell to Corbin in the first round of the 13th Region Tournament.
Just like Noe, Wynn changed her mind and decided to join her teammate at Union Commonwealth University.
“I loved basketball so much that I was afraid that I would regret not continuing my athletic career,” Wynn said. “I had other offers but on the visit to Union I felt the most comfortable.”
Wynn helped lead a resurgence of the Harlan program during her high school. The Lady Dragons suffered through five straight losing seasons before getting to 18-14 in 2024 and making it back to the 13th Region Tournament after a five-year absence. She had a strong senior campaign, averaging 16.4 points and 7.6 ebounds per game for the 20-13 Lady Dragons, who won the 52nd District Tournament title for the first time since 2016. She ended her career with 2,371 points to rank second in school history behind Jordan Brock.
“She means a lot to our program in general,” said Harlan coach Mackenzie Varner. “She’s a great leader and great competitor. Her work ethic has been showing recently.”
“Looking back at my high school career, I am proud of all the work I put in to achieve all my accomplishments and help my team accomplish all of the goals we set, am so glad I got to play with my sister and win championships along with my best friends,” Wynn said. “All the lessons that I learned during my high school career will transfer into my college career.”
