
HAZARD — The Harlan County Lady Bears were on the wrong end of a pair of comebacks Monday in a team camp at Memorial Gym in losses to Owsley County and Hazard.
The Lady Bears led by six at halftime against Owsley County before falling 54-49. Taylynn Napier scored 11 and Jaycee Simpson added nine for the Lady Bars. Kylee Runions tossed in eight, followed by Reagan Clem with seven, Jaylee Cochran with five, Kenadee Sturgill with three and Lacey Robinson, Whitney Noe and Shasta Brackett with two each.
Harlan County was ahead 26-19 at halftime against Hazard before the Lady Bulldogs rallied to win 51-47.
Raegan Landa led HCHS with nine points. Noe scored eight, followed by Simpson with seven, Robinson and Runions with six each, Clem with five, Cochran with four and Sturgill with two.
The 2-3 Lady Bears return to action Thursday at Knox Central.

Harlan County stayed perfect in junior varsity action with a 43-41 overtime win. The Lady Bears also let a lead slip away in this game but won in sudden death as Taylynn Napier found Kenadee Sturgill for the winning layup off the tip.
Raegan Landa scored 14 points and Napier added 12 to lead the 5-0 Lady Bears. Vanessa Griffith scored eight points, and Sturgill added five. Shasta Brackett and Kelsie Middleton scored two each.

The Lady Bears split two varsity games Tuesday at Perry Central, falling 42-30 to Letcher Central followed by a 30-23 win over Breathitt County.
Runions and Simpson each scored eight to lead HCHS against Letcher. Cochran and Clem each scored five. Noe and Robinson added two each.
Runons led the Lady Bears against Breathitt with 11 points. Cochran scored five. Napier and Noe each tossed in four. Clem, Simpson and Landa chipped in with two each.

Harlan County improved to 6-0 in junior varsity action with a 51-34 win over Letcher Central in junior varsity action.
Napier led the Lady Bears with 13 points. Sturgill and Brackett each scored eight. Landa added six. Middleton and Griffith each tossed in five. Khloe Carr added four. Natalie Moore scored two.
