Not many fourth graders can say they are world record holders, but 9-year-old Sophie Bell owns a unique distinction in the powerlifting world.
Bell competed at the Arkansas Strength Expo on June 28 at Little Rock and posted a powerlifting total of 564 pounds, beating the old record for a 9-year-old of 548 pounds. Bell had a squat of 222 pounds, a bench press of 101 and a deadlift of 241. The event was organized by the Southern Powerlifting Federation.
Sophie Bell is trained by her father, Brandon, who is also a powerlifter and MMA fighter.
