Former Harlan County High School standout Tristan Cooper is spending his summer playing baseball in North Carolina in the Old North State League.
Cooper, who recently completed his freshman season at Transylvania University, is playing with the Laurinburg Highland Hooligans. He has pitched in seven games and has recorded two wins with 17 strikeouts, a 2.29 earned run average and a .198 batting average against him.
The Old North State League is comprised of approximately 750 players on 24 teams and is based on North Carolina. The league includes players from Division I, II and III schools, as well as NAIA and junior college. Twenty two former players are now playing professionally.
