Lady Cats defeat Black Mountain in season-opening game
Bailey Haynes scored eight points and Bryleigh Bush added seven as Evarts opened the season with a 32-1 rout of visiting Black Mountain in seventh- and eighth-grade basketball action Tuesday.
Evarts won 37-9 in the fifth- and sixth-grade game led by by eight points each from Anna Kayte Clark and Bailey Haynes.
The Lady Cats won 16-2 in a fourth-game game.

Natalie Charles scored nine as the Lady Comets won 28-4 in fifth- and sixth-grade action.

Khloe Daniels and Embrey Engle added 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Anistyn Lewis led Cumberland with six points.
Embrey Engle scored 11 and Khloe Daniels added nine as JACES won 24-1 in fifth- and sixth-grade action.
