Harlan County opened its middle school football season with a two-game sweep at Shelby Valley on Tuesday,
Trey Creech completed eight of 13 passes for 158 yards and four touchdowns with a two-point conversion. Caysen Farley had four catches, including three touchdowns, for 82 yards. Hudson Faulkner led the HC ground game with 75 yards rushing on seven carries and added one catch for a 31-yard touchdown. Kaydon Gray had two catches for 36 yards and rushed for 37 yards and a touchdown on one run. Farley added 49 yards rushing and a touchdown on four carries. Brantley Burkhart ran for 11 yards on one carry, and Blake Johnson added three yards on one catch.
Farley added two fumble recoveries. Logan Mills recovered an onside kick. Jacob Brock hit an extra point,
Harlan County won 14-0 in the fifth- and sixth-grade game.
Rayce Bryant passed for two touchdowns as he completed seven of 11 passes for 140 yards. He also ran for 85 yards on two carries. Jase Wynn had three catches for 73 yards and two touchdowns. Weston Nolan added two catches for 54 yards and had two touchdowns called back due to penalties. Brady White ran eight times for 38 yards and had two catches for 11 yards. Micah Cochran had one rush for 12 yards. Maddox Landa added one catch for four yards. Deacon Lisenbee had a two-point conversion.
The Black Bears return to action Saturday at Middlesboro.
