
Runner up last season as an eighth grader, Harlan’s Daria Lee captured the 13th Region All “A” Classic championship on Tuesday at the Indian Springs course in Barbourville.
Lee shot a 51 to win the tournament by eight strokes over Jackson County’s Ady Fee. Remmie Bingham and Kelsey Miller, both of Jackson County, each had a 65. Monica Whitehead and Addison Arnett shot a 67 and 68, respectively. Jackson County’s Marley Coffey also had a 68.
Vivian Smith, with a 70, and Clarissa Yost, with an 81, also represented Harlan.
“I’m proud of Daria today accomplishing a huge milestone for herself and our program,” Harlan coach Baylor Varner said. “She works extremely hard on her game, while also juggling other sports. Excited to see her compete at the state tournament.”

Jackson County won the boys team title with a 310, followed by Barbourville with 341, Harlan with 368 and Pineville with 400.
Jackson County’s Eli Summers was the individual winner with a two-under par 70. Jackson Lakes, of Jackson County, and Samuel Collins, of Barbourville, tied for second with a 74.. Harlan’s Baylor Varner was fourth at 83.
Grant Shelton had the second best score for Harlan with a 92, followed by Eli Freyer with a 96, Caiden Jackson with a 97 and Carson Osborne with a 100.
Eli Knuckles led Pineville with a 97, followed by Riley Monhollen and Marcus Yates with a 98 and Paul Elliott and Zac Brown with a 107.
Jesse Harris had a 92 for Middlesboro, and Emmitt Butler added a 111.
“Our boys competed today against some great competition,” Varner said. “We had some bright spots that, hopefully, will get us back on track playing how I know we can with the homestretch of our conference season coming up.”
