Clay County placed first in a middle school golf tournament Thursday at the Wasioto Winds course in Pineville, shooting a 144 to edge Bell County by one stroke.
Bell’s Madox Sziksai was the individual winner with a 33. Jordan Miracle was third with a 35.
Clay County was led by Brantley Dezarn, whoplace second with a 35. Jayce Hubbard and Cooper Dezarn were fourth and fifth, respectively.
Harlan County was third with a 159, led by Julian Simpson with a 37 (second in grades five and under) and Mason Garrett with a 38. Ben Crain was next for HC with a 41, two strokes ahead of Annie Burton. Levi Sergent, Nolan Simpson and Ace Bingham rounded out the field for the Bears.
Harlan finished with a 166 to place fourth. Nate Thomas led the Dragons with a 40. Izaiah Lefevers and Elliott Lane each shot a 41. Connor Thomas shot a 44 and T.L. Miller a 49.
Corbin was fifth with a 169.
