
The favorites advanced Saturday in the opening round of the county fifth- and sixth-grade tournament at James A. Cawood Elementary School as Rosspoint, James A. Cawood and Evarts advanced to join top-seeded Cawood in the final four.
Blakely Snelling scored 10 points while Natalie Creech and Zoey Reed added eight to lead Rosspoint to a 33-20 win over Wallins.
Bella Saylor led the Lady Devils with nine points.
Embry Engle scored 16 and Khloe Daniels tossed in 11 as James A. Cawood routed Cumberland d35-2.
Sadie Clark tossed in 12 points as Evarts downed Black Mountain 30-3 in the final game of the day.
Cawood will play Rosspoint at 5:30 on Tuesday and James A. Cawood will take on Evarts at 6:30 in the semifinals at JACES.
