Harlan native Neil Middleton was honored during halftime of the Breathitt County-North Laurel game at the Sweet SIxteen on Thursday at Rupp Arena. Middleton, a 1978 Harlan High School graduate, worked in radio in Harlan at WTUK and WHLN before moving to WYMT in Hazard, where he spent 12 years as vice president and general manager. He was presented the NFHS Award for Outstanding Service by Kentucky High School Athletic Association Commissioner Julian Tackett.

HCHS esports team starts strong
Harlan County High School junior Hunter Napier finished 11th in the Tennessee State Fishing Championships with a two-day total of 29.73 pounds as a member of the Harlan Lip Rippers. The tournament was held May 31-June 1 at the Kentucky Lake.
