Green Dragons open season with win at Pineville

Harlan grabbed.a big lead early and coasted to a 39-20 win Thursday at Pineville in seventh- and eighth-grade basketball action.
Landon Myers scored 11 points to lead the Green Dragons. Jaxson Perry added eight.
Pineville won 47-30 in fifth- and sixth-grade action as Clyde Medermott led the Lions with nine points.
Zach Boggs paced the Dragons with 15 points.

Harlan County teams fall in middle school playoffs

The Harlan County middle school football teams suffered first-round losses in the state playoffs. The sixth-grade team lost 32-0 against South Laurel. The seventh-grade team fell 20-0 to Pikeville. The eighth-grade team lost a 38-8 decision to North Laurel.
