Harlan junior point guard Kyler McLendon is off to a hot start in the 2022/2023 season as he takes on a bigger role with the Green Dragons. McLendon helped Harlan open the season with two straight wins to earn the first Kellie Wilson Law Office Player of the Week honors this season. McLendon scored 24 points on Tuesday as the Dragons opened with a 71-63 win over South Laurel, a team that knocked Harlan out of last year’s 13th Region Tournament and had dominated the series over the years with at least 15 straight wins. McLendon followed with 30 points as the Dragons rallied for an 81-79 win over West Jessamine in the Ted Cook Classic at South Laurel.
