A perfect afternoon Saturday in Clay County capped a great opening week for Harlan County senior Taytum Griffin, who earned the first Kellie Wilson Law Office Player of the Week honors of the season. Griffin hit five of five shots against Clay County and finished with 16 points in the Lady Bears’ 63-33 victory. Griffin scored 15 points Monday in a 65-57 win over visiting Knott Central to open the regular season and followed with eight points Thursday in a loss to Knox Central.
