Harlan guard Kyler McLendon put up a short jumper in the Dragons’ 81-44 win at Middlesboro on Friday.

Harlan ran its record to 7-0, rolling to an 81-44 win Friday at Middlesboro.
The Dragons started slow with a 16-13 lead after one quarter, but took control by outscoring the Jackets 27-8 in the second quarter as Jaedyn Gist scored eight points and Kyler McLendon added seven. Will Austin had five baskets in the third quarter as the lead grew to 72-46.
Kyler McLendon scored 23 to lead another balanced night of offense for the Dragons. Austin scored 18, followed by Trenton Cole with 12 and Gist with 10. Harlan owned a 46-25 advantage on the boards, led by Austin with 17 and gist with 11.
Jerimah Beck led the 1-5 jJzackets with 15 points.
Harlan will take on Ashland Blazer on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the first round of the Pikeville Invitational. Middlesboro will face Shelby Valley on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. in the Railsplitters Classic at Lincoln Memorial University.
