Cole explodes for 10 3s as Dragons pound Bishop Brossart in tourney
December 28, 2022
With four starters back from last year’s All “A” Classic state semifinalist team, eighth-grader Trenton Cole was often the forgotten man in Harlan’s 9-0 start this season.
After exploding for 30 points on 10 3-pointers Wednesday to lead Harlan to an 82-43 rout of Bishop Brossart in the Dan Swartz Classic, Cole won’t be a secret any longer.
Kyler McLendon and Kaleb McLendon added 16 and 12 points, respectively, as Harlan improved to 10-1 on the season.
Senior forward Mason Sepate led the 7-4 Mustangs with 11 points.
Harlan returns to action Thursday at 6 p.m. against Frederick Douglass in the semifinals. The 7-2 Broncos advanced with an 84-34 rout of Lewis County in a first-round game Wednesday.
