Harlan guard Emma Owens, pictured earlier this season, scored 13 points Thursday as the Lady Dragons fell to Floyd Central in the Berea Holiday Classic. Harlan will be at home against Middlesboro on Monday in the 13th Region All “A” Classic.

Harlan built an 18-5 lead in the opening seven minutes but couldn’t hold off a Floyd Central comeback as the Lady Jaguars took control in the third quarter on the way to a 65-54 win Thursday in the consolation bracket of the Berea Holiday Classic.
Senior point guard Kennedy Harvel scored 22 points and senior forward Jada Johnson added 12 points and 14 rebounds to lad the 10-4 Lady Jaguars.
The 4-7 Lady Dragons, who finished 1-2 in the tournament, were led by sophomore guard AymannI Wynn with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Junior point guard Emma Owens added 13 points.
Rebounding proved to be a big difference in the game as Floyd Central owned a 47-27 advantage. Floyd Central also hit 26 of 32 at the free-throw line as three Harlan starters fouled out.
Harlan returns to action Monday at home in the quarterfinals of the 13th Region All “A” Classic. The Lady Dragons will play Middlesboro at 7:30 p.m. with Barbourville playing Williamsburg at 6.
